Welcome to Foundations 3 Class – Explorers (AGES: 3 to 5 YEARS OLD) | Full Day Classes
The Pathfinders class is designed to challenge and engage children as they develop a deeper understanding of the world around them. Through hands-on learning experiences and opportunities for deeper exploration, children continue to build upon their existing skills and knowledge gained in the Explorers class. Emphasis is placed on social and emotional development, as well as literacy, math, and science skills, to set the stage for future academic success.
The Full Day Foundation 3 – Pathfinders class offers extended hours of instruction and care, providing students with the opportunity for enhanced learning experiences.
Our Foundations 3 – Pathfinders Curriculum:
Language, Literacy, and Communication:
Develop language and communication skills, including letterland phonics, and bilingual education (French and Spanish).
Music, Movement, and Expression:
Encourage music, movement, and dance to promote creativity and self-expression.
Science, Math, and Discovery:
Introduce fundamental concepts in science, technology, and mathematics through hands-on learning experiences.
Visual and Performing Arts:
Foster creativity through visual arts and sensory exploration.
Life Skills and Sensory Awareness:
Develop important life skills and sensory awareness through hands-on experiences and activities.
Health and Well-being:
Promote physical activity, healthy habits, and wellness through health and fitness programs, hot lunch, and snack programs, and our Foundations of Mindful Movement which helps improve focus and reduce stress through movement and advanced breathing techniques.
Character Education:
Teach universal values and ethics through interactive activities and discussions.
Inside Your Foundations 3 – Pathfinder’s Day:
Routine:
Build on the established routines of the previous two programs, a structured and consistent daily schedule provides stability and promotes learning.
Learning interactions:
Engage in hands-on activities that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills and reinforce bilingual education in French and Spanish.
Group experiences:
Continuously building social and emotional connections through collaborative activities and discussions.
Storytime:
Build on language, literacy, and communication skills from Explorer’s Day, introducing new stories and expanding bilingual education to include additional languages.
Meal time:
This program helps improve focus and reduce stress through movement and advanced breathing techniques.
Foundations of Mindful Movement:
Focus on developing self-awareness, self-confidence, and inner peace through interactive and fun activities.
Science, Technology, and Mathematics:
Expand on advanced concepts in these subjects through hands-on, inquiry-based activities.
Creative Arts and Sensory Exploration:
Continue to nurture creativity and self-expression through visual and performing arts activities.
Life Skills and Sensory Awareness:
Build on the life skills and sensory awareness developed in Explorer’s Day, with hands-on experiences and activities.
Outdoor Time:
Continue to promote physical activity and exploration of the environment.
Flexibility:
Adapt to meet the individual needs of each child while maintaining the structured and consistent routine established in the previous two programs.
Goals for Our Foundations 3 – Pathfinders (Ages 3-5):
- Ensure that each Pathfinder knows and feels that they are an important member of our community.
- Improve language skills and vocabulary, including bilingual education in French and Spanish.
- Develop social skills and emotional intelligence through interactive play and group experiences.
- Foster physical development through gross motor activities and mindful movement practices.
- Enhance cognitive development through inquiry-based activities and critical thinking tasks.
- Improve fine motor skills through hands-on activities and manipulation of objects.
- Support and promote a positive self-concept through inclusive and supportive learning experiences.
- Encourage creativity and self-expression through visual and performing arts activities.
- Develop attention span and concentration through structured and engaging learning interactions.
- Encourage healthy habits, nutrition, and physical activity through our health and fitness program and outdoor play.
- Develop important life skills and sensory awareness through hands-on experiences and activities.
- Foster growth in all areas of communication and language development.

Foundations 3 – Pathfinders to Foundations 4 – Emerging Leaders Class: Identifying Readiness & Key Indicators
Social & Emotional:
- Demonstrates empathy for others and shows understanding of different emotions
- Works well in a group and cooperates with peers
- Expresses opinions and ideas effectively
- Uses language to resolve conflicts and negotiate with peers
- Demonstrates confidence and independence
- Shows interest in books, stories, and information about the world
Language & Communication:
- Uses 5 or more word sentences when speaking
- Asks open-ended questions and clarifies information with others
- Uses descriptive language to express experiences and thoughts
- Enjoys rhyming and creative writing
- Can follow and understand more complex rules in group games and activities
Cognitive:
- Completes puzzles with 5 or more pieces
- Can count to 20 or higher
- Can recognize and match patterns
- Explores cause and effect relationships in play and problem-solving
- Recognizes and sorts shapes and colours
- Shows curiosity and interest in the world around them
Movement & Physical Development:
- Hops on one foot
- Throws and catches a ball using both hands
- Balances on a beam or curb
- Climbs, jumps, and balances in various ways
- Uses tools like a pencil and scissors with control and dexterity
- Runs, jumps, and skips with ease
These are just a few of the many indicators that a child in Foundations 3 – Pathfinders class may be prepared for the next level, Foundations 4 – Emerging Leaders. It’s important to remember that every child develops at their own pace.

*Arrival Time – For an interruption-free learning environment, students must arrive in the classroom by 9:30 a.m. Late arrival will be marked as absence. If a student has an appointment, please inform the teacher beforehand to accommodate their needs and minimize disruption to the class.
